Crescent Skirt - Lace in the seams

Have you seen Tasia's tutorial on inserting lace into a seam? I knew I wanted to try it pretty soon, and with the Crescent skirt sewalong coming up, I thought it would look lovely on the curved seams of the yoke. Though I wasn't sure how it would work with having to press the seams to one side, so after some wonderful advice from Tasia, I gave it a go with some scraps!
I think it looks lovely, and I'm really pleased with the outcome! Tasia's tutorial is so easy to follow, and there are some great tips that make it so much easier to get the lace looking even :) It's left over lace from my slip and I like it so much against the red that I think I'm going to get some more for the real thing.
As for my Crescent skirt progress, I have interfacing cut out for both skirts and the red fabric is cut out. Now for the floral fabric! :)

  4. Ooooh pretty! I was also toying with the idea of adding lace to the crescent skirt after Tasia's tutorial but i haven't found any in a complementary colour yet...infact i haven't found much lace at all, must get hunting! How did you get around the seam issue in the end? x

  5. Thank you :) Tasia advised trimming and clipping the seam, so I trimmed the seam to about 0.5cm and pressed it to side without clipping and it worked perfectly! So I didn't need to clip in the end. It's not as steep a curve as I thought it would be (if that makes sense!) so it pressed just fine :) I can't wait to start on the real thing!

  8. Oooooh, I love red and black together! It's gonna be so saucy and cute at the same time. I might have to steal this colour combo for a future project if you don't mind...And doesn't lace that has been inserted into seams look so nice? I'm gonna be using this technique and piping a lot on my next garments!
