Pesky neckline!

That the front neckline. See the lining peaking out? I've understitched the lining and have ironed the heck out of it! Any tips? Or is this the best I can hope for? Perhaps a bow can be stitched there to hide it. . . pesky thing!

  1. I had exactly the same problem when I recently attempted a dress in satin, you've done a much better job than me as even with understitching I had about 1cm of lining rolling out from the back!!

I'm afraid I can't offer any tips as my dress was abandoned later due to more issues but I think a flower would look better than a bow if you go for the hiding it option (very Carrie Bradshaw) - if you Google "fabric flower tutorial" there are some gorgeous ones.

  3. I too cannot offer any advice (sorry), but a cover up is a good fix i reckon. How was sewing with the satin in the end?

  4. I'm leaning toward a cover up too. Not sure what yet, I need to discuss it with Becky.
Its lovely to sew with! :D Each seam of the skirt (theres 6 of them!) is taking half an hour to do though! This is because I pin it, stitch it, press the heck out of it, zig-zag the seam allowances separately to avoid bulk, then press it some more. The results however are worth it. The bodice is ready to be attached, and the skirt is half done. The skirt! oh how wonderful it will be! I'm so glad she decided to go with the train, its beautiful so far! :)
