Progress photos - Evening gown

It looks strange on a hanger! The zipper is now in, and we were able to have Becky try it on! It fits and looks wonderful! Though is needs a good iron again, as I did a hand picked zipper (rather than risk doing it by machine, as I just cannot get the hang of it!) and there was no other way to do the zipper than to have the dress bunched up on my knees. It still needs a hem, I'm planning on doing that by hand too I think. Then of course there's the sash, which we've decided is going to go around the front under the bust, and around the back over her bra strap :) It's nearly done! Hurray! A good thing too, the ball is on Friday night!
Hopefully some shots of it being worn soon :)

  4. This looks so nice. Was it easy to do an FBA on this pattern? I think i might have to buy this pattern and hoard it for when i need a posh dress (if that day every comes) as it looks great. Can not wait to see a pic of your friend wearing it.

  5. Thank you! :D Once I'd got my head around the gathers being like darts, I just about had the method sorted in my head. But it was great to find a tutorial for what I'd worked out I needed to do. I used this method:

I'd pretty much worked it out, but it was nice to have my thinking confirmed :)
You really should, its a really easy pattern! Even with the modified back it was simple. The hardest part for me was sewing the skirt as it kept falling off my work surface as its so darn big! lol

  6. Wow Ashley, it looks fab!! I love the train, bet Becky is glad she decided to keep it?

You must get some pics of Becky modelling it!!

You should be very proud of yourself as satin is a PIG so you are a talented seamstress to have done such a good job....

  7. Aww, thanks! though its really not that bad, its duchesse satin, which has more of a dull sheen than a shine, so isn't as slippery as it looks in photos :)
Yes, she's very glad! I should hopefully get it modelled tomorrow! :D
