Smart skirt - Finished!

I'd like to apologise in advance for how awful these photo's are. Black is impossible to take a good photo of! I had to mess with them terribly to get the small amount of detail that there is! Also, I looked awful in them all so my face is cropped out. We should have left the window open. Perhaps then my face wouldn't have been so red.
Anyway, these are the best of the bunch:
You can barely see any detail! But you can see the shape, which I quite like :)
Look what I had to do to make it show any detail! Ick, but at least you can see the cute gathered bit at the back. I think this is my favourite thing about this skirt. Also, that isn't a gap at the top of the zipper, its the  flash shining on the zipper pull thingy.
This is the best photo out of the whole lot. I don't know how Dom managed to get the detail! I really like the gathers. They sit quite nice and flat which was unexpected :)
So, yes. I think I owe you some better photo's. I'll try again when I wear it out in the sun :)

  2. Thank you :) I actually am beginning to be proud of the things I make, because as my sewing skills improve so do my garments! I'm now happy to wear the things I make. And its getting warmer so I can wear this now!

  4. Thank you :) I'm really lucky, as my measurements are all in one column for skirts so I didn't make any alterations to the pattern! So I didn't really have to do much other than cut and sew. Skirts are easier to fit than tops too, so give it a go! :)

  5. That skirt is really pretty! I like the gathering. I wish my measurements for waist and hips were in one column. I span about 4 when you include bust measrurments! Good to know skirts are easier to fit though. A fitted skirt is def on my "to sew" list.

  6. Thank you :) When you include my bust measurements it all goes a bit crazy! And then there's my neck to waist measurement! Its about 3 inches shorter than the norm, so I have to shorten the pattern piece so that the waist shaping is in the right place, and then I have to lengthen it again at the bottom so it doesn't end up like a crop-top! lol
Most of my sewing knowledge comes from being a member of the sewing forum. I could sit for hours reading through the threads, absorbing info. And then there's all the blogs I follow! Lots of info there too :)

  10. Maybe I should. I still have a voucher for two free BMV patterns to be cashed in before too long!

  11. A voucher is even better, vogue patterns are pretty expensive! I got mine when sew direct had the buy one get two free offer on :)
