Cabled Wristwarmers

Finally got round to taking photos :) They took about a day and a half to dry after their soaking. I'm really happy with them, I'm actually looking forward to the cold weather so I can wear them. The pattern is the cable stitch wristwarmers from the Textured knits book in this collection. The yarn is Andes by Debbie Bliss. It's super soft and silky, though a bit fuzzy. I think the cables stand out nicely too.
I was going to take photos of me wearing the dress I finished last week, but I really don't feel like posing for a camera today. I was up at 4.30am to see Dom off this morning. He's gone to Derby for work, as they're opening a new store and he's helping sort the stock room. He's doing 12 hour shifts, so they've paid for a hotel. He's coming home Friday night or Saturday, and then it's the same thing next Monday. So I'm on my own, which is very strange and lonely. I may or may not have cried like a baby for half an hour when I got back to an empty flat at 6am this morning. So yeah, I can't be bothered with spending an hour trying to get a good photo. I'm sure I'll have got a grip on myself tomorrow :)
Happy Monday!

  1. The one time thus far that my J has abandoned me in the house for a night, I was ill and ended up crawling back to my parents' house for supper. So you have my sympathy!

Hopefully you'll be able to take advantage of a little me-time.

  2. Aww, you poor thing! I wasn't feeling too good this morning when I got back, I was really anxious and upset which makes me feel ill. I've also not had much appetite either.
However, good and bad news! The store messed up and there aren't going to be any deliveries for them to put away till Friday, so he's coming home tomorrow then going again on Friday and staying till the next Friday. Also, the store left it till this afternoon to try and book a hotel, so all the cheap ones were fully booked. So he gets to stay in a veeery fancy hotel instead! The lucky bugger! lol
Honestly, I'm bored of 'me time' already, I haven't felt like doing much of anything at all today, so it's just being wasted.
Can you tell I haven't spoken to anyone much all day? I'm having trouble shutting up now! lol

  3. You'll have him back tomorrow, yay! Maybe a grand plan is needed for the following week. Do you have any far-flung friends you could take the opportunity to visit? Even better, go to Derby and sneak into the fancy hotel! I'm sure they won't notice one more, right....?

  4. I know, I feel silly for being so upset this morning now! Well, I'm going for lunch and a film with a friend on monday, but other than that I'm not really very sociable lol I might treat myself to some yarn and a knitting pattern though. It's a shame the Stitch 'n' bitch at the yarn shop isn't on this monday. I think I'll take a walk every day though, just so I get some fresh air, as according to dom I go a bit strange if I don't get any fresh air and exercise for too long!
Haha, I'd love too, but being cooped up in a hotel room all day might get a bit boring. Though the hotel has massive grounds from the looks of photos so I could explore those ;)

  5. They look fab, I love the colour and the sheen on the yarn.

It's rubbish to be home alone, but just try and enjoy having the place for yourself, doing/watching/eating what you want and sleeping in the bed like a starfish!!

  6. Yes, going outside is good! As you can probably guess I'm the queen of looking-after-one's-sanity strategies, and for me getting out every day is at the very top of the list of ones that actually work!

  7. Hahahaha!! Oh Sarah, I've not smiled like this all day!! Sleeping in the bed like a starfish I most certainly will! lol I also won't wake up in the middle of the night to find dom has somehow managed to roll himself into the duvet so I can't pull it off him! lol Thanks :)
If the weather is nice I might even take a camera! :)

  8. Cute wristwarmers! Love the colour. I can never be bothered to make gloves because I hate using dpns. I try to avoid using them at all costs.

  9. Thanks :) These ones are knit flat, then seamed up the side so no dpns! :)

  10. Ashley, they are soooo pretty. Bella says, "Peetee." That's pretty in cat-talk. Just lovely. I like how there's no ribbing, they just start & just end. Which looks cool but also makes them extra comfortable, I bet. And such a great color.

I hope this week goes by quickly. The roommate is definitely my soulmate & sometimes I just miss after being gone just for the day!

  11. Thanks :) Aww, I want a kitty cat! They are really comfortable, not too tight but not too loose :)
